I always wanted to be a Psychologist.
But a love of music saw me dedicate my first decade of adulthood to a successful career as a singer-songwriter - after which I returned to Uni and completed two degrees in Psychology, finally realising my ambition of becoming a Registered Psychologist.
Throughout those formative years and the decade and a half that has followed I’ve had a passion for mindfulness. My expertise in the field is now underpinned by a personal meditation practice and professional development spanning 23 years. I’ve taught Mindfulness at Monash University, UNSW and in a myriad of schools and organisations across Australia. I recently spent 4 years as lead mindfulness expert at Smiling Mind where I was responsible for the design and delivery of workshops and training across all school, workplace and general community programs, content and meditations for the app, as well as providing oversight and guidance in the strategic direction of Smiling Mind products and programs. Most recently I was engaged by the St Kilda Football Club to define 'Mental Fitness' and co-create a strategy for the wellbeing programs to be delivered through the newly opened Danny Frawley Centre.
My broader expertise in Wellbeing Science (sometimes referred to as Positive Psychology and defined as the science of optimal functioning) took flight with my honors thesis/research on Subjective Wellbeing, more commonly known as happiness. It has continued to evolve and includes areas such as resilience, engagement, meaning and purpose, and strengths.
I now consult directly to schools and organisations on the intersection of mindfulness, wellbeing and high performance.
I also continue to work as a Psychologist in Private Practice providing therapy/counselling and one-on-one Performance Coaching.
